Nueces River and Corpus Christi Bays Area

The Expert Science Team submitted recommendations of how much water is necessary to ensure a sound ecological environment to the stakeholder committee in October 2011. The stakeholder committee now has until September 1, 2012 to submit its recommendations regarding environmental flow standards and strategies to meet those standards to the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) and the Environmental Flows Advisory Group. Both groups are currently meeting regularly.

After the stakeholder committee submits its recommendations, TCEQ will have one year to adopt environmental flow standards for the Nueces River/Corpus Christi & Baffin Bays Area by September 1, 2013. This will be a formal rule-making process and there will be an opportunity for public comment.
